Elephant Seals and Morro Bay
Another totally fantastic day!! We started by having another yummy breakfast and going to see the elephant seals just a couple miles north. We saw a ton, but our camera was still a little funny. We were lucky to get this adorable picture of this baby squeezing itself. I don't know why, but it's cuteness reminds me of Ceci. (fatness?)
We then packed up to go to Morrow Bay about 40 minutes south. On our way out, we had to get a picture on this cute bench and we got to see this GORGEOUS Tiger Swallowtail!!
We like Morrow Bay because Craig's parents lived there once and so they would vacation there once in a while when Craig was a kid. A couple years ago, ('06) Craig took us there and it was really fun. Today we brought our camp stove so we could cook some hot dogs for ourselves (applegate farms, grass-fed!) We enjoyed a picnic at a cute park right by the big Morro rock and enjoyed watching the boats and the activity in the bay. We also enjoyed some swings, a tree, birds, squirrels and otters.
Later, we wandered the town. They also have a lot of cute shops. We got some HUGE ice cream cones and enjoyed them on this pretty deck.
Later,we went to the local shell store and let the girls each pick out a few. Craig went to this very shell shop as a kid on vacations, so it's really fun for us to go to it.
When we got back to camp, we made homemade chili and cornbread. I was really proud of how the cornbread turned out, cooking it on a stovetop! It was all soooooo yummy! I think I forgot to mention that almost every single night we've had s'mores. What a fun day!
